WELCOME

Welcome to the Makerere University - Nottingham Trent University partnership web pages for sharing our joint activities for World Antimicrobial Awareness Week.

We are part of the broader partnership between Makerere University, Uganda and Nottingham Trent University, UK. Since the beginning of February 2019 we have been working together to promote antimicrobial stewardship through the Commonwealth Partnerships for Antimicrobial Stewardship (CwPAMS) scheme, funded by the UK Department of Health and Social Care’s Fleming Fund, as part of a team of microbiologists, pharmacists and specialists in environmental and animal health from our universities, Buckinghamshire NHS Healthcare Trust and Entebbe Regional Referral Hospital.

We have run five WAAW events so far, in November 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023.

University students competed to produce engaging comic strips and videos to share key messages about antimicrobial resistance, antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention & control.

Students and staff from each university then linked up for joint online events to learn more about global perspectives on antimicrobial stewardship, and to celebrate the competition winners!

Please use the menu bar at the top of the page to view each year's event and the prize winning competition entries.
